Wring Out the Juice
I am not a juice-freak. I would occasionally juice in spring and fall, but what really juices me out is my detox yoga routine. I like to design a new one every spring or lat fall – always coming up with novel ways to twist, while inverting, forward and back bending. I know it sounds too “pretzelled”, but it works wonders.
You see, twists are those yoga poses that squeeze out the glands to secrete healthy hormones. But a twist alone does not boost detox and elimination. It requires a little curling in and lifting up to get into those organs that you want to catalyze. These three actions of twisting, curling and arching create the centrifugal force that wrings out of the sap of any fruit or veggie when juiced.
Most detox yoga classes favor twists over forward and backbends, emphasizing the oxygenation and detoxification processes, but not necessarily focusing on the “wringing out” element of three-dimensional twists. Spinal twists, whether standing, squatting, reclining, supine or seated need that extra “twist” to get deeper and more effective. That means that while lifting and elongating the body there is a micro-arch, and while curving in, there is a micro-contraction – very much like a twirl that allows the respective organs to sponge in the fresh blood while eliminating the toxic residue.
It also stimulates the bone marrow to improve the cellular input through the organs and tissues and regenerate any areas that have decayed.
This triple action triggers specific brain synapses and sends a different signal from the central brain to the body part, or organ that the twist stimulates. In this way we are cleansing and catalyzing; squeezing out toxins and soaking up the fresh blood. When these twists are gradually arranged through different levels the sponging effect is further enhanced, and the benefits immediately reaped.
I am still honing this art of pushing, pulling and curling while twisting and have not only restored my Ph balance, but also noticed an improved immunity in fall. This method has helped me focus my breath in flushing away toxins, while eliminating all the nutrients carried through the blood stream. I focus on exhaling fully to rinse and inhaling deeply to promote circulation and blood flow. Next, I inhale to infuse my cells with oxygen and exhale to release carbon dioxide and clear away impurities, wringing the juice out, to nourish and replenish the cells.
Now it’s your turn. Join me for this fall detox. It is fresh, it is juicy, it is deep…
