Rainbow Self
Once I hit the second trimester one of my most profound experiences came during meditation. I am a mover and cannot pride myself on being the most gifted meditator as a yoga practitioner. But for some reason once I got pregnant and especially in the fourth month, my meditations became fascinating trips to alternate realms of consciousness. I would close my eyes and the imagery would start to flow incessantly for more than an hour. I visited stellar abodes, smelled fragrant air, bathed in bright hues, had vivid visions of things to come. The shift was instant and I didn’t have to struggle with the racing mind. I find it rather miraculous how you start to feel life throbbing within you during your second trimester. You literally become a carrier of the soul essence that is developing into a persona in your womb. You can feel the movements of your baby, its blossoming will-power and the personality that it is about to become. You feel the temperament, the character, the subtle inclinations that are cropping up. You are the inner witness of another identity forming within yourself. It requires communication, but also communion.
In one of my meditations I could clearly see how the identity of my baby was being woven from different strands of mine and my husband’s DNA, but there was a singular touch to it that made the being inside unique and so multifarious. Formed by genetic information, ancient kinship, past life experience and authentic identity the baby was morphing into its perfect “I am”. It felt like all these building blocks of physical matter were colors of the rainbow and they assembled, and reassembled into behavioral patterns and forms of intelligence that carved the fingerprint of the evolving soul.
The yoga view of the self is about you—your essence. But what is your essence? Is it matter—a mere collection of material atoms and molecules? Or simply a condensation of spirit? The quest for the self is a quest for authenticity and defining your life mission. But in most cases we lived our assumed selves – the external social, cultural, historic layers of one’s identity that are only false projections of the true self. Most people struggle to define themselves, they spend their lives in a kind of dream state—they falsely identify themselves as something or someone they aren’t. Then, on the basis of this false identification, they’ll determine the goals of their life and the purpose of existence. They will use these goals to gauge whether they are making “progress” in life, whether they are a “success”. And they are aided and abetted in this delusion by a complex network of relationships with other dreamers.
Ironically, in their embryonic state our babies are all “illusion-proof” – they are pure essence vibrating and forming myriads of chemical, electric, neural and emotional relationships and integrating into a true embodiment of their singular self. Their individuality assembles into a multi-faceted diamond that gleams from different angles the radiance of their spirit. And you can sense this radiance in the very womb as you connect to the soul that is constant and immutable. I experienced a flash of divine insight about my child’s past life, present purpose and future achievements in a deep state of meditation. Once the image dawned it disappeared and I unattached from it. It was essential not to project any imposed and false imprint on the child. Everything was left open to the mystery of creation and manifestation.
It is really sad when parents map the path of their child from the very womb and being to sculpt their nature and condition their identity from birth. It is counter-intuitive and wrong to impose your unfulfilled ambitions on your infant. The child has its unique path to follow and parents should not interfere with their divine passage to realizing their true potential. In this respect, embryos, infants, toddlers, children are much wiser that the parents that want to box them, for they are still thriving in their angelic state – unconditioned and undisguised. Once the parents give up on turning them into carbon copies of themselves, they give their kids the freedom to just be and simply land into the sacred seat of their soul.
I have discovered that creative visualization is the most potent and imaginative way to open up the space for individual growth and to affirm the best for the baby’s evolution and growth. This rainbow meditation is a form of color healing therapy to remind moms that everything is following its natural course. Drawing each shade of the rainbow into your baby’s emerging body you bring out the nuances of its character and offer all possibilities for the manifestation of its personality. And you suddenly realize that just like you, your baby is a star seed that descended on the Earthly plane for a special purpose. You also know that everything will flow in the right direction if you free up the flow. As you honor this orchestration you set yourself free from unnecessary stress and you rekindle the child within. Then everything turns into “Leela” – a divine interplay between identity, reality and self.
Prenatal Yoga Meditation: Rainbow Self (2nd Trimester)
This Yogea meditation integrates mudra seals, color therapy, devotional movement and creative visualization to get you in touch with your growing baby – its organ systems, will power and shaping identity. Each color travels to specific organs, glands, tissues, nerves and systems to catalyze proper growth and function, while flushing the mom’s charkas and providing optimal vibrancy and health. The meditation strengthens the baby’s aura and allows for the unfolding of its authentic self. It jumpstarts the baby’s sensory system and allows it to grow into an integral personality that manifests its sprit and expresses the many facets of its soul.
